We are a group of friends who enjoy cycling together - every three years we find a new way to torture ourselves on bikes and then decide to get sponsored so that people can watch us suffer.

So after LEJOG (Lands End to John O’Groats) in 2004 and LeKnees (The Atlantic to The Mediterranean along and over the Pyrenees) in 2007, we are now asking you to support our L’Express ride: Paris to Venice in 2010.

Day 2 - Paroisse to Troyes

Today the team managed 122km - or 76 miles, in what was quite a hard day. The route went through rolling hills, so there was quite a lot of climbing - exactly 521m in fact (amazing what electronic gadgets you can get now!) The route roughly followed the Seine but actually didn't stay close to the river itself most of the time, though sometimes it did dip down to the bank. At one point like this, JR found himself helping one of the working boats on the river to tie up, as they were having problems getting a rope around a tie up on shore. Nice to know that all his practice on the canals this year has been put to good use. The group found a nice patisserie to pick up lunch, so we don't have to worry about them suffering on the food front.

The Medieval Charm of Troyes

When I spoke to the guys on the phone tonight, they sounded tired but pleased with how they had managed the day. I left them trying to get the attention of a waiter at the local restaurant - presumably someone who doesn't realise the dangers of not feeding cyclists promptly at the end of a long day!

Today's vital statistics
122km  - 76 miles. 521m climb. 5 hours 53 minutes of cycling - 20.7 kph average speed. 4575 calories used.
